VITA
Born in Altdöbern in 1955. Attended school and graduated from high school in Calau.
1976-1981: Studied geology at the Freiberg Mining Academy, graduating with a degree , writing a thesis on “The paleology and biostratinomy of the marginal facies of the Wettin layers (Stefan C) near Dobis north of Halle (Saale)”.
1981-1984: Research assistant at the Central Institute for Physics of the Earth of the Academy of Sciences in Berlin.
1986-1989: Research assistant at the Mineralogical Institute of the University of Kiel; 1989 doctorate as “Dr. rer. nat.” with a thesis on “Textural and structural properties of mylonitic rocks of the Insubric line (Ivrea Zone, Italy) and their influence on the elastic rock properties”.
Since 1990 at the “Institute for Geology and Dynamics of the Lithosphere of the Georg-August-University Göttingen”.
Habilitation 1995 in Geology.
1995: Habilitation (Dr. habil) with a thesis on “The Significance of Rock Fabrics for the Geological Interpretation of Geophysical Anisotropies”.
1999: Appointment as Professor at the Georg-August-University Göttingen.
1997-2002: Heisenberg Professorship of the German Science Foundation.
Since 2002: publicly certified expert of the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the field of “Natural Stone in geology and construction and the preservation of historical monuments ”.
2003: Consulting, evaluation and assessment of natural stones.
